Trudy was an avid reader and a lover of music.  When she was not at work she would often be found with a book in her hands....either at home, at medical appointments or travelling.  She also took a book with her to her office to read when she had a time gap between patients.  Along with the book she was just as likely to have a radio or an iPhone playing her favorite music.  She often said "music is my higher power"

So when we thought of how we could pay forward with something for the people of Smithown, The Smithtown Library Main Branch became a very strong candidate. The patio area facing Main Street overlooks the lawn area where the Dennis Cannataro Family Summer Concert Series is held. We quickly realized that the donation of a bench to be placed on this patio would be an ideal way to both remember Trudy and provide enjoyment to the people of Smithtown; where Trudy lived and maintained her professional office.

The bench was installed in early November, and on November 24, 2017 it was dedicated in memory of Trudy for the benefit of the residents of Smithtown. Approximately 40 family members, friends, professional colleagues, former patients, neighbors, and children attended the dedication. The symbolic ribbon and bow on the bench was cut by Trudy's grandson and granddaughter. Her husband, her two sons, and three of Trudy's former patients spoke at the dedication.  A reception at the library followed for the attendees.
